Stop Square Email Forwarding in Gmail

Use this guide if you previously followed our Gmail instructions to forward Square invoices to Ship.com and now want to turn that off.

Depending on how you originally set things up, you may need to do two things:

  1. Disable any account-level forwarding (if enabled).

  2. Remove the filter that forwards Square invoices to Ship.com.

A. Turn off account-level forwarding (if enabled)

  1. Sign in to the Gmail account that’s forwarding your Square invoices.

  2. In the top right, click the gear icon → See all settings.

  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  4. In the Forwarding section:

    • If you see “Forward a copy of incoming mail to…” enabled with your Ship.com forwarding address, select “Disable forwarding.”

  5. Scroll down and click Save Changes.

This stops all automatic forwarding from that Gmail account.

B. Remove the Square → Ship.com filter

  1. Still in Gmail settings, click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.

  2. Look for a filter that:

    • Searches for or mentions invoicing@messaging.squareup.com, and

    • Has an action “Forward it to” your Ship.com forwarding address.

  3. On that filter’s row, click Delete.

  4. Confirm that you want to delete the filter.

Once this filter is deleted (and any account-level forwarding is disabled), new Square invoices will no longer be forwarded to Ship.com from Gmail. Existing orders already imported into Ship.com will not be affected.
