      What Coverage Is Available If I Don't Buy Insurance? 📦

      Discover what coverage options you have if you don't add insurance for your shipment.

      Ship.com offers comprehensive low-cost package insurance through our Shipsurance partnership for just 0.75% of your package value. However, if you choose not to purchase additional insurance, your shipments still have some basic protection through the carriers.

      Default USPS Coverage

      USPS automatically includes some protection at no extra cost to you:

      • $100 of insurance on domestic Priority Mail and Ground Advantage shipments
      • $200 of insurance on Priority Mail International shipments

      This automatic coverage kicks in for packages shipped through Ship.com without you lifting a finger!

      Default UPS Coverage

      Good news for UPS shippers too:

      • All UPS shipping options automatically include $100 worth of coverage if your package is lost or stolen in transit

      Same as with USPS, this coverage kicks in automatically when shipping through Ship.com.

      Filing a USPS Claim (When Things Go Sideways) 🔍

      If your USPS package goes missing or arrives damaged:

      1. Try locating lost packages using the USPS Missing Mail and Lost Package website first
      2. File your claim directly through the USPS website: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm
      3. Act quickly! For damaged or missing contents, file immediately (no later than 60 days from mailing date)

      Note: All USPS claims need to be filed directly with USPS, but we're always here to help if you have questions! 🙂

      Filing a UPS Claim (When Packages Go MIA) 🕵️

      If your UPS shipment doesn't make it to its destination:

      1. Send an email to help@ship.com with:
        • Recipient's name
        • Tracking number
        • Shipping date
      2. Our support team will walk you through the claims process and submit the claim on your behalf
      3. We'll keep you updated on progress (UPS claims typically take 2-3 weeks to be paid out)
