What is a Flat Rate Envelope?

When using this postal option you'll want to use USPS's special Flat Rate Envelopes. USPS provides these envelopes free of purchase. Just go to your local post office to pick up the correct envelope or click the link above to place an order through USPS's website to have them delivered directly to your door.

When opening an order for purchase, the Flat Rate options will show automatically without needing to enter any of the package's dimensions. This is because the weight of the envelope does not matter and the system automatically uses the dimensions. All we need to create a price is a To Zip and a From Zip.

Standard Flat Rate Envelope

Dimensions: 12-1/2" X 9-1/2"

This paperboard envelope is recommended for documents or smaller items. Not that you must be able to close the envelope within the normal folds. If you cannot then you will need to choose different packaging for your order or put your order in multiple packages.

Padded Flat Rate Envelope

Dimensions: 12-1/2" X 9-1/2"

This bubble padded envelope is recommended if you need a little extra protection for your items. If you cannot then you will need to choose different packaging for your order or put your order in multiple packages.

Legal Flat Rate Envelope

Dimensions: 15" X 9-1/2"

This paperboard envelope is slightly longer and recommended for legal documents or smaller items. If you cannot then you will need to choose different packaging for your order or put your order in multiple packages.
