How to File an Insurance Claim

Learn how to file an insurance claim for shipments sent through Ship.com

Missing or damaged package? No problem!

Filing a USPS Claim

USPS automatically includes up to $100 of insurance on domestic Priority Mail and Ground Advantage services, and up to $200 of insurance on Priority Mail International services.

To file a claim for USPS, please follow the steps on their website: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm

All USPS claims need to be filed directly with them but we're always here to help should you have any questions. 🙂

If the package is lost, you can also try locating it using the USPS Missing Mail and Lost Package website before filing a claim.

NOTE: For damaged or missing contents, USPS recommends filing a claim immediately, but you must file no later than 60 days from the date of mailing.

Filing a UPS Claim

All UPS shipping options at Ship.com automatically come with $100 worth of coverage if the package is lost or stolen in transit. If you would like to insure the full value of the package, read this article here.

To file a claim for UPS, please send an email to help@ship.com including the recipient’s name, tracking number, and shipping date. Our support representative will reach out and help you.

Once we have all of the information we need, we submit the claim on your behalf and will keep you updated on the progress. UPS claims typically take 2-3 weeks to be paid out.
